Charlie’s reflection

There were many touching moments during this ESSC. What moved me the most was the sermon by Pastor TJ Jung on the principles of “humility” and “gentleness.”

The Bible says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Those who are humble, or in other words, those who are not satisfied within, recognize their inadequacies. Such people are humble, able to see their own shortcomings and aware of their weaknesses. Because it is only when we clearly realize that we are insufficient that we truly seek God and strive for perfection. Only when we acknowledge our weakness do we have faith in God and rely on Him.

From this perspective, my weaknesses and inadequacies are gifts from God. Because of my weaknesses, I learn how to rely on God. Moreover, God trains me to overcome these weaknesses, and in this process, I draw closer to Him and receive many blessings. Therefore, I shouldn’t despise or even hate myself because of my shortcomings; they are a gift from God. As I work to overcome these weaknesses and progress, I rely on and draw near to God. This pursuit of God will help me until the end, until I attain the kingdom of God.

The message from pastor TJ encouraged me to be humble and gentle, rather than proud and rude. Such humility and gentleness are not innate traits that one is naturally good at but are developed through life’s trials and growth. What Lord Jesus wants me to become is precisely such a gentle person.  Here is the link to the sermon “Blessed are the Poor in Spirit”.

For the Bible says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
