In a world where medical advances can’t solve every problem, and pain and illness continue to challenge us, we may find ourselves asking why we must endure such hardships and what the purpose of our lives truly is. The Bible, however, holds the answers to these questions. Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” (John 11:4).
When we are faced with physical hardships whether as a patient or as a caregiver, is the answer to make the hardship go away? And if the hardship does go away, what are we going to do when it comes back? How about learning and building our strength to deal with such hardships for ourselves and our loved ones? The spiritual strength we build based on God will help us cope, heal, go through with treatments and feel the love, peace and joy from God.
When faced with physical suffering, both Job and Paul gained insight and understanding. Job stated, “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You” (Job 42:5), and Paul realized that God’s grace is sufficient, as His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Jesus, who bore unimaginable suffering on the cross, knows our pain better than anyone else. More importantly, He cares for us deeply and understands what is best for us. Jesus proclaimed, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Through His life, Jesus sought to reconcile humanity with God, enabling us to experience a life filled with peace, love, and joy.
Dear friends, we invite you to join us in renewing our relationship with God. Let us experience God’s power not just to survive but revive! “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:3-4).
