Overarching Message on Your Needs in Life (6)

What is the Importance of Time in Life?

Right from the beginning when God created the world, time has and still does, have a significant role in our life.  A person living in this world is expressed and measured in years e.g., age in number of years, what and how you have accomplished over time, in fact everything changes over time.  Time is constant—it never changes.  While everyone has different time spans (age), everyone still has the same 24 hours in a day.

Everything in the world is dependent on time.  Sunrise, sunset, high tide, low tide, change of seasons, being alive as humans, animals.

Why is Time so Important?

  1. Time teaches us the value of life.  Treasuring happy moments motivates you to want more of it in the future.  Dealing with painful memories or grief requires time.
  2. Time once passed cannot return.  So don’t waste time.
  3. Nobody knows how much time they have in life.
  4. Everything is subject to time—everything eventually ages and expires.
  5. Time is expressed as past, present, and future.  Only the present matters because you can’t change the past, but you can impact the future in the present.
  6. Your happiness, peace, joy, and love are affected by time.
  7. Managing your time wisely affects your quality of life.
  8. Growing competencies that impact your future takes time to manifest.
  9. Relationships with people and God are made or destroyed based on how much time you invest in them.
  10. Time is the universal, and most valuable resource.

How should you be spending your time in various situations in life?

WHAT you do with your time is what you do with your life.

HOW you spend your time is how well you achieve things that matter in your life.  That’s when you count your blessings.

WHY you spend time on anything is the reason that gives you meaning in your life. If you are spiritually minded, your lives will deal with spiritual things.  If not, our lives will deal with worldly things that will fade away eventually.

Godly perspective on how to spend time.

Make God the top priority in your life.  Schedule your priority, not prioritize your schedule.  Each day is a gift from God.  So, you should make the most of each day, every day while you are still alive for you do not know how many days you have.

Live everyday with an eternal mindset.  Do not be consumed with anxiety, stress and depression when battling with challenges in life especially those that pertain to this world—physical wellness; college and career; family; life balance; peace and love; search for God; and spiritual growth.  Solutions of this world come and go but the spiritual solution of God is eternal.

Feeling overwhelmed?  Consider this.  “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7.

Do not be dismayed when things do not turn out the way you want on earth.  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Stop procrastinating.  Procrastination is the enemy of accomplishment.  No more excuses.  God instructed us to make plans to do it in a timely way and not at the last minute or it might never get done or won’t be our best effort.  “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”  James 4:17

Do not Overextend Yourself.  The phase you are in your life determines how and where to allocate your time.  So, for example, if you have a family with young children, then you need to have time allocated to raise your family physically and spiritually.  Do not overextend yourself with church duties and end up not keeping your commitment…makes you break a promise or even worse, a liar to God.  “God understands your needs in life for He cares.  And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippian 4:19

Balancing Life with Work and Rest. God created the Sabbath for man to rest.  God also loathes the lazy one, so balance work with rest in the Lord.

We invite you to spend time to strengthen and grow your spiritual self so that you might receive His blessings while on earth as it is in heaven.  Join us for the Fall Evangelical Services and Spiritual Convocation (ESSC) from September 14 to 17, 2023 at our church located as follows.
