Living a Life of Faith and Submission to God

Living a Life of Faith and Submission to God

Jude 20–21 reminds us, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Our journey in faith begins when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. Through His sacrifice, our sins are forgiven, and our life must transform from one of sin to righteousness (Titus 2:11–13).

However, many of us lose sight of our faith’s essence, replacing divine reliance with worldly pursuits. Such a casual approach can lead us astray. The Jews during Jesus’ time serve as a warning; initially believing in Him, they later rejected His teachings, showcasing a wavering faith (John 8:31–58).

Trials and sufferings often test our faith. Apostle Paul, despite his adversities, showcased enduring faith, drawing strength from Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9b–10). To stay grounded in our faith, two actions are essential: understanding God’s word and fearing Him. The Ethiopian eunuch’s experience (Acts 8:26–39) underscores the importance of seeking wisdom from Scriptures. Through the Holy Spirit, we can unlock divine wisdom, deepening our relationship with Christ (1 Corinthians 2:4–10). Apostle Paul’s unwavering commitment, even in trials, arose from his deep understanding of Christ (2 Timothy 1:12).

Moreover, fearing God and obeying His commandments is fundamental (Ecclesiastes12:13b–14). Neglecting this fear can lead us down a path of sin and away from God’s grace. The story of Joseph exemplifies a life that reveres God; his actions, even in adversity, reflected his unwavering faith (Genesis 50:19–21). Elder Peter’s guidance (1 Peter 2:19–21) and Paul’s teachings (Romans 12:17–21) further stress the importance of righteousness and leaving judgment to God.

Submission to God’s sovereignty is crucial. Recognizing Jesus as the Lord of life ensures we remain on the righteous path (1 Corinthians 8:6). Revelations speak of saints who achieved victory by surrendering to God’s supreme authority (Revelation 15:3b–4). Both Peter and Paul faced numerous challenges but remained steadfast in their faith, highlighting the importance of submission to God’s divine will (2 Timothy 4:6–8).

In conclusion, to stay rooted in God’s love and achieve eternal life, we must actively seek God, draw wisdom from Scriptures, uphold His commandments, and submit to His divine will. By doing so, we protect our faith, ensuring a life anchored in Christ’s love and mercy.
