He Is Our Shepherd

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.” Luke 15:4-5

The Bible says that we all, like sheep, have gone astray. We’ve wandered far from God, and the farther we roam, the more lost we become. We encounter sorrows and pain in life because we’ve become disconnected from Him. But even so, He still loves us, more than ever. He tends His flock like a shepherd, He takes care of our physical and mental wellness. He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart, and He gently leads those that have young. Jesus cares for us in a deeply personal way because He understands the challenges we are facing and the pain we are experiencing.

An amazing transformation occurs when we accept Jesus Christ as your shepherd. We can find that His grace is always there and is always enough for us. When our soul hungers, He leads us into the open green pastures to nourish us with spiritual foods. When our mind is filled with stress, anxiety, and depression, He leads us beside the calm, still waters to release our mental distress. No matter how broken our soul becomes in this life, He restores it, bringing healing and comfort to us.

He brings rich gifts to us. He shed His blood for us so that one day, we might have the chance to be washed in His blood, and that all our sins may be forgiven for eternity. He died so that He would rise again and send the Comforter, the promised Holy Spirit, down for us. And when we receive the promised Holy Spirit, Christ truly dwells in us and grants peace to us.

Even when you’re feeling lonely, you can be assured that you’re not really alone, but have within you His constant presence–an unquenchable source of peace, strength, and sufficiency. Worry about nothing, but surrender ourselves to the good shepherd – our Lord Jesus Christ.
