A Journey of Forgiveness and Redemption
Born into a traditional family in a small town and being the third child among four siblings, my life took a transformative turn after encountering the true love of God. My journey from harboring deep-seated hatred for my verbally abusive mother-in-law to finding redemption and leading her to Christ speaks volumes of God’s transforming love. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear,” (1 John 4:18) became not just a verse but my lived experience.
My career as a preschool teacher spanned nearly three decades, culminating in my retirement in 2019 to take on what I consider my most significant role yet: caring for my mother-in-law with dementia. My faith journey saw a pause after marriage but reignited in 2015, thanks to the guidance of my floral arrangement teacher. This led me to the True Jesus Church, where I was baptized in 2016, marking the beginning of my heart’s transformation.
During my baptism, a divine vision of water turning into blood was a powerful testament to God’s forgiveness and love pouring over me. I pondered the verses from Romans 5:8-9 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” This overwhelming experience drove me to tears, and I couldn’t help but share the miraculous vision with those around me.
The Holy Spirit’s guidance since joining the true church has illuminated the areas in my family life needing improvement for God’s glory. Through prayer, God not only mended my strained relationship with my husband but also enabled me to remove the hatred from my heart, leading my mother-in-law to embrace the Lord’s name.
Despite the challenges posed by my mother-in-law’s dementia, which strained our family dynamics, the Holy Spirit’s touch during a revival meeting helped me see her suffering through Christ’s eyes, teaching me forgiveness on a level I had never known. I found following verse is very comforting: “With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3) Caring for her has been a testament to God’s grace, bringing peace and stability into our lives and seeing her condition improve remarkably after her baptism.
Reflecting on this journey, I am reminded of God’s constant renewal and love. The support and prayers from my family and church have been indispensable. Witnessing my mother-in-law’s spiritual and physical transformation filled my heart with indescribable joy. To God be all the glory, for His love and spirit have guided me through the darkest valleys to a place of profound peace and fulfillment.
