Finding Strength in Faith: A Journey of Healing and Hope

In the early hours of January 30, 2021, life threw me a curveball that I never saw coming. There I was, thinking I had my health completely under control, when suddenly, I was in a hospital bed, dizzy and bleeding for reasons unknown. This moment was a stark reminder of life’s unpredictability and the profound need to lean not on our own understanding but on our faith in God.

My journey began with a frightening experience, leading to a hospital admission where my condition remained a mystery, challenging not only my physical health but my faith as well. Amidst the uncertainty and solitude of the ICU because of pandemics, Psalm 127:1 spoke to me, reminding me that without God’s hand in our lives, our efforts are in vain. This was a time for me to not only seek healing but to deepen my reliance on God, to understand that peace and strength come from Him, as Isaiah 12:2a so beautifully reminds us, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.”

As days passed, with more questions than answers, my faith was tested. Yet, it was through this ordeal that I discovered the true essence of spiritual wellness. 1 Peter 5:8 became a call to vigilance, to guard my faith against despair, reminding me of the importance of spiritual health alongside physical recovery.

After continuous bleeding for about 13 days, I stopped bleeding for four days straight, and my hemoglobin increased, puzzling the doctors. I then decided to continue with the examinations in this bigger hospital to which I was transferred the second time. Miraculously, on February 20th through a combination of medical expertise and divine intervention, the source of my bleeding was discovered, and it was in my small intestine. My bleeding problem was addressed. My condition improved and I was allowed to be discharged.

This journey, filled with moments of fear and uncertainty, was transformed into a testament to the power of prayer and the unwavering support of family and faith. It was a reminder that our lives are like a mist, as James 4:14-15 describes “whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow, for what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away,” emphasizing the importance of living in accordance with God’s will.

Reflecting on this experience, I see it as a profound lesson in humility and trust. Despite the challenges, God’s grace was evident at every turn, providing not just physical healing but a deeper spiritual connection. My story isn’t just about overcoming a health scare; it’s about recognizing our need for God in every aspect of our lives, trusting Him through our trials, and acknowledging His sovereignty.
