With Faith, We are the Ambassador
Paul said, “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20). To be the salt and the light of the world – this is how a true Christian should live.
Faith is complete trust in God and all that He has promised in the Bible, regardless of whether we are healthy or sick, wealthy or poor, in a storm or on a calm lake. Abraham was able to see hope in despair because of his strong faith. At nearly a hundred years old, God promised him a son. His unwavering faith enabled him to look forward to God’s promise—he never doubted in his heart, gave glory to God, and was confident in the fulfillment of the promise.
Judging things by sight is unreliable, as it depends on our limited wisdom and experience. For example, in John 1:45-46, “Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’ And Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’” Does this sound familiar to you?
Faith enables us to see the might of God. Those who have faith will remain strong and joyful in all matters. Thus, strength will not fail us, wealth will not corrupt us, and sickness will not weaken us. Bearing the cross, we will follow Christ faithfully. Those who depend on themselves solely will have many worries and sorrows because our sight is short compared to God’s vision. Our knowledge is little compared to God’s wisdom, and our experience is nothing compared to God’s, for He is everlasting.
We must have faith in order to do the will of God. By faith, Jesus was willing to endure the sufferings of the cross. It is recorded in Matthew 16:22-23, when Peter knew what the Lord had to go through, “Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!’ But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.’” May all of us depend on faith and not on sight in all that we do. Then we will be able to receive divine blessings and be ambassadors of Christ.
Faith is not something we ask God to give us. Faith needs to come from us, and we need to build, nurture and grow our faith in Him. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith also needs to accompany works…our work even with the best intentions, would be in vain without faith. “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:26)
