Encountering the Lord in Action
God is a God of peace, so why do I always feel anxious about things? Why do I feel a lack of peace in my life? Why can’t I feel love and joy? It’s because my faith is not strong. We often like to do things our way, neglecting our connection with God in the process. If we only profess faith with our lips but love the world in our hearts, how can we be acknowledged by God? As it says in James 2:26, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.“
To find peace and love in God, we need to make two kinds of behavioral renewals. The first is a renewal of our actions in life. Often, the root of our anxiety comes from “deficits,” whether towards others or towards God. God breathed His spirit into us when He created us, making us beings with a soul. Since God is good, His goodness becomes the ruler deep in our souls, our conscience. Thus, we should measure our actions in life against “God’s word,” as it says in Acts 24:16, “I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.” When our actions in life are renewed, we naturally receive God’s blessings and gifts.
The second renewal is in our spiritual actions—our experiences and knowledge of God. We should not be spiritual infants. 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” We need patience for God’s promises because He knows the best timing for us, and faith in His guidance, as John 14:18 says, “I will not leave you orphans.” Faith comes from our understanding of God’s word and our experiences with Him in life. We should continually renew our minds and be transformed by studying the Bible, praying, and being led by the Holy Spirit. With true faith in God, we can sleep peacefully despite any storm.
God’s peace, joy, and love are always around us; it’s just that our own issues often prevent us from seeing or feeling them. Therefore, we must resolve to renew our actions so that God can enter our hearts. We sincerely invite you to join us at our church to study and learn how to renew ourselves and seek God together!
