I\u2019m reminded of what Peter says in <em><i>1 Peter 4:1-2: &#8220;Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind.&#8221;<\/i><\/em>\u00a0Suffering isn\u2019t something I seek out, but I\u2019ve come to see it to purify my heart and align my life with God&#8217;s will, rather than chasing after the short-lived desires of this world.<\/p><p>I admit, it\u2019s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of comfort, status, and material wealth, thinking they will bring fulfillment. But in truth, these pursuits can cloud my spiritual vision. Peter warns against living like the Gentiles, indulging in worldly pleasures without thinking about our spiritual well-being (<em><i>1 Peter 4:3<\/i><\/em>). The parable of the ten virgins is a powerful reminder to stay vigilant and ready for the Lord\u2019s return, no matter our age. Whether we are young or old, we need to use our time wisely, living in obedience to God.<\/p><p>As I grow older, I realize that my priorities need to shift to reflect my spiritual growth. <em><i>Proverbs 16:31<\/i><\/em>\u00a0tells me, <em><i>&#8220;The silver-haired head is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.&#8221; <\/i><\/em>This verse reminds me that aging, when coupled with a righteous life, is something to be honored.<\/p><p>On a personal level, I\u2019ve learned that it\u2019s important to take care of myself, including dressing appropriately for church and letting go of household responsibilities. I\u2019ve realized that allowing the next generation to take over isn\u2019t about giving up control, but about trusting that they can handle things, which has helped reduce stress and improve family dynamics.<\/p><p>As I continue this journey, I\u2019m reminded of the importance of living in a way that pleases the Lord. <em><i>2 Corinthians 5:9<\/i><\/em>\u00a0says, <em><i>&#8220;Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.&#8221;<\/i><\/em>\u00a0This verse has become a guiding principle for me, especially as I face the challenges of aging. It encourages me to focus on pleasing God in everything I do, making each day count for His glory. Whether I am at home or at church, I strive to live in a way that honors Him, knowing that my ultimate goal is to be with Him.<\/p><p>Looking forward, I no longer fear aging. Instead, I see it as a step closer to my goal: being with the Lord. Each day brings me nearer to God&#8217;s grace, and I want to live with anticipation of that glorious future. <em><i>Psalm 63:4-6<\/i><\/em>\u00a0encourages me: <em><i>&#8220;Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied&#8230; When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.&#8221;<\/i><\/em>\u00a0With this mindset, I can enjoy my silver years with a sense of peace and purpose, knowing that I am living each day for the Lord.<\/p><p>I cordially invite you to attend the Chicago True Jesus Church&#8217;s Fall Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation this September.
