We found ourselves delving into the trials and triumphs of raising children, where one colleague, a dedicated mother, opened about the challenges she faces with her spirited daughter and son. Her husband, a seasoned teacher, admired by all for his ability to guide and nurture, yet at home, the puzzle remained—why the difficulty in guiding their own?

This moment of vulnerability sparked a light-hearted suggestion from me, “Why not treat them as someone else’s children?” which brought laughter and a profound realization. It’s a simple yet profound truth we stumbled upon that day, one that echoes the teachings of Ephesians 6:4, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” This scripture guides us, reminding us of the delicate balance required in parenting, where discipline is infused with love and understanding.

In this journey called life, we often find the lines between guidance and freedom, discipline, and understanding blurred. As parents, we’re called to steward the precious lives entrusted to us by God, recognizing the unique paths our children are meant to walk. The wisdom from Colossians 3:21 cautions us, “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.” This serves as a reminder to temper our approach with grace, fostering an environment where trust is the foundation and mutual respect the framework.

In navigating the complexities of modern parenting, where societal pressures and expectations loom large, we must not lose sight of the biblical principles that anchor us. As Proverbs 22:6 states: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Our children, a gift from the Lord, require not just our love, but our faith in them, to grow into the confident, independent adults they’re destined to be.

Let us, therefore, embrace this divine responsibility with open hearts and guided hands, trusting in the Lord to lead us. For in this nurturing environment, faith, trust, and mutual respect will flourish, enabling our children to embark on their journeys, grounded in love and propelled by faith. Remember, a harmonious family, guided by the light of God’s word, is not just a haven of peace but a beacon of hope in this world.

We warmly invite you to come to the True Jesus Church’s bi-annual Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation. See details below.

18-21 April, 2024 Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation

Thursday, 18 April, 2024 6:50PM to 8:10PM
Friday and Saturday, 19-20 April, 2023 9:00AM to 8:10PM
Sunday, 21 April, 2024 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Complimentary lunch and dinner will be served.

Please find our church location below:

True Jesus Church
4N550 Church Road
Bensenville, IL 60106
Google Maps

For online streaming, please click here.

For regular service hours, please click here.

Email us at ilovejesus@tjc-chicago.org

The Heart of Parenting: A Journey of Faith and Understanding Friends, I want to share a story with you, one that unfolds on a journey, not just any journey, but one I took with colleagues, nestled in the warmth of camaraderie and the shared experiences of parenting.
