Cradled in the arms of the True Jesus Church from birth, I was baptized into a legacy of fervent belief. My faith&#8217;s roots stretched through generations, strengthened by the miraculous healings and deliverances that peppered my family&#8217;s history, like the life-given breath to my uncle following a deadly poisoning, or my grandfather&#8217;s narrow escape from certain death at the hands of a soldier.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">My existence, almost cut short by the threat of miscarriage, serves as a testament to the Lord&#8217;s sovereign choice. Raised in a home where spiritual devotion took precedence over worldly pursuits, my mother&#8217;s unyielding resolve to immerse us in God&#8217;s presence was the bedrock of my childhood. Service after service, my siblings and I absorbed the sacred word, forgoing earthly distractions for heavenly wisdom.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">However, my journey wasn&#8217;t without its turbulence. As a child whose restlessness mirrored the symptoms of ADHD, my early years were marked by ceaseless motion and boundless questions. The patience and love of Preacher Shek transformed what was once seen as unruliness into potential. The reception of the Holy Spirit at twelve molded me from a boy of constant disruption to one of devout worship and eager study of scripture.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">As I aged, my initial zeal waned, and the comfort of routine dulled my spiritual senses. Yet, a move to the wintry solitude of Calgary at eighteen became the furnace that reforged my faith. Bereft of a church and grappling with a foreign language, I found solace and strength in the private sanctity of home services, where my mother&#8217;s leadership brought the word of God alive in our living room.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">The National Youth Theological Seminar ignited a fire within me, revealing the depth of God&#8217;s work beyond my small sphere. There, the desire to serve Him on a broader scale took root. In my quest to follow this path, the challenges of language and self-doubt paled in comparison to the burning need to answer God&#8217;s call.<\/p><p class=\"p4\">Responding to the invitation to preach wasn&#8217;t a path carved from sacrifice but an embrace of the utmost blessing. The journey has been one of care, friendship, and immeasurable love. As I reflect on this passage, it dawns upon me that the timing and manner of coming to know God are inconsequential.
