This was a divine assignment, not just to restore the city’s defenses but to revitalize the faith and unity of God’s people. Faced with mountains of rubble, Nehemiah and the people of Judah could easily have succumbed to despair. “The task is too great,” they might have said, feeling the heavy burden of their mission.

But let me tell you, in those moments of overwhelming challenge, Nehemiah leaned on a powerful truth that we can all hold onto: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). When the weight of the world seems too much to bear, remember, my friends, that prayer is our sanctuary, our direct line to God’s unfailing strength and support.

Fear, that sly adversary, whispered threats and dangers, attempting to shake the resolve of Nehemiah and his people. Yet, Nehemiah stood firm, proclaiming, “Remember the Lord, great and awesome.” (Nehemiah 4:14) He reminded everyone to focus on God’s protection rather than the looming threats. Ephesians 6:10-11 teaches us to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power,” to arm ourselves with faith as our shield and the word of God as our sword. Together, they worked and watched, fortified by divine strength.

Greed, a subtle yet destructive force, threatened to divide the community from within. Nehemiah saw the wealthy exploiting the needy and was moved by a righteous indignation. He knew well that “No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew 6:24). By confronting this injustice, Nehemiah urged his community to embody the spirit of giving and mercy, as taught in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you.”

Nehemiah’s journey is a testament to the power of prayer, unity, and steadfast faith. It teaches us that the strength to overcome any obstacle doesn’t come from the stones we lay but from the unwavering faith in our hearts and the collective spirit of our community. As we face our own battles, let us remember that when we humble ourselves and seek God’s face, He will heal our land and our lives (2 Chronicles 7:14).

So, as we build, let’s not just focus on the physical tasks at hand but also on the spiritual renewal within us. Together, with prayer, perseverance, and the living word of God as our guide, we can overcome any challenge. And in the end, when we declare “Amen” and praise the Lord, we’ll know that the true foundation of our work was always our faith, shining brightly as a beacon of God’s love and grace.

We warmly invite you to come to the True Jesus Church’s bi-annual Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation. See details below.

18-21 April, 2024 Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation

Thursday, 18 April, 2024 6:50PM to 8:10PM
Friday and Saturday, 19-20 April, 2024 9:00AM to 8:10PM
Sunday, 21 April, 2024 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Complimentary lunch and dinner will be served.

Please find our church location below:

4N550 Church Road
Bensenville, IL 60106
Google Maps

For online streaming, please click here.

For regular service hours, please click here.

Email us at ilovejesus@tjc-chicago.org

Rebuilding More Than Walls: Nehemiah’s Journey of Faith and Unity In the heart of Jerusalem, as Nehemiah led the monumental task of rebuilding the walls, he encountered more than just the challenge of physical labor and internal pressure of stress.
