In wave 2, let\u2019s dive deeper into the nature of loneliness.<\/p><p>Loneliness is a feeling of dissatisfaction with the quality and quantity of one\u2019s relationship with others. There are two types of loneliness: social loneliness and emotional loneliness. Social loneliness often arises when we find ourselves in unfamiliar circumstances \u2013 moving to a new city or even a new country for a job or school, far from family and friends; losing someone dear to us; or facing prolonged illness, isolated in a hospital. This type relates closely to the \u201cbody\u201d aspect of life. On the other end, emotional loneliness is more about the \u201csoul\u201d aspect. It emerges when we feel unheard or no one understands our deeper concerns and needs, even when surrounded by others \u2013 perhaps you\u2019re with friends but sense they don\u2019t truly know you, or your family is nearby yet their love feels distant. Whether grappling with social or emotional loneliness, our instinct is often to seek someone to connect with.<\/p><p>But consider this warning from the Bible:<\/p><p><em>\u201cMy son, if sinners entice you,<br \/>Do not consent.<br \/>If they say, \u2018Come with us,<br \/>Let us lie in wait to shed blood;<br \/>Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;<br \/>Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,<br \/>And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;<br \/>We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,<br \/>We shall fill our houses with spoil;<br \/>Cast in your lot among us,<br \/>Let us all have one purse\u2019\u201d (Proverbs 1:10-14)<\/em><\/p><p>Reading the verses, do you notice a recurring theme? It\u2019s the emphasis on \u201cwe and us.\u201d When loneliness deepens into despair and turns into depress, we become vulnerable because we can\u2019t see God anymore. The world may seize this weakness, tempting us with a false sense of belonging, luring us into actions that disobey God under the guise of togetherness. Another repeated idea stands out: the pursuit of \u201cmore.\u201d Loneliness often stems from failing to recognize what we truly have. Yet, God has provided everything we need. When we finally grasp the abundance of His love, we share it, passing His love to the next lonely soul we meet. Because Jesus said, <em>\u201cAnd as you go, preach, saying, \u2018The kingdom of heaven is at hand.\u2019 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons, Freely you have received, freely give.\u201d (Matthew 10:7-8) <\/em><\/p><p>We encourage you to learn more about our <a href=\"https:\/\/tjc-chicago.org\/about\/basic-beliefs\/\">Lord Jesus Christ<\/a>.
