As we strolled down the aisles, I was immediately captivated by the rows of candy. A few minutes later, I looked up only to discover that my parents had disappeared. After my initial shock at being lost, a more daunting realization washed over me: I was completely alone because I no longer had my parents to rely on.<\/p><p>Loneliness is a universal experience. While it can manifest as physical isolation, it is often much more\u2014a deep-seated feeling of emptiness and the sense of having no one to care for us.<\/p><p>Let us reflect: why do we experience loneliness? To me, loneliness is our heart\u2019s cry for God\u2014a heart that longs for His presence. It encourages us to honestly evaluate our relationship with God. Are we close to Him, or are we further away than we think?<\/p><p>Whenever I neglect cultivating my relationship with God, loneliness begins to settle in my heart. Yet it is in these moments that I recognize my deep need for God, just as David remembered Him in his distress:<\/p><p><em>\u201cBut I am poor and needy; <\/em><\/p><p><em>Yet the Lord thinks upon me. <\/em><\/p><p><em>You are my help and my deliverer; <\/em><\/p><p><em>Do not delay, O my God.\u201d (Psalm 40:17)<\/em><\/p><p>After realizing I was alone in the supermarket, I immediately set aside my interest in the candy and frantically searched for my parents until I found them. In the same way, loneliness compels us to put aside the distractions that keep us from grasping onto God and to seek Him diligently. We must pursue God steadfastly and not cease until we find Him, because He feed His flock in the strength of the Lord.<\/p><p><em>\u201cAnd He shall stand and feed His flock<\/em><\/p><p><em>In the strength of the LORD,<\/em><\/p><p><em>In the majesty of the name of the LORD His God;<\/em><\/p><p><em>And they shall abide,<\/em><\/p><p><em>For now He shall be great<\/em><\/p><p><em>To the ends of the earth\u201d (Micah 5:4)<\/em><\/p><p>Nevertheless, loneliness is a struggle. On one hand, the voice of the devil tempts us to seek solace in the world; on the other, we sometimes must endure quiet hours of solitude to clearly hear the loving whispers of God calling us to return. Though it is not easy to overcome, loneliness is an opportunity to fill our empty hearts with God\u2014for He alone can fill us with <a href=\"https:\/\/tjc-chicago.org\/peace-and-love\/\">peace, love, and comfort<\/a>.<\/p><p>We warmly welcome you to our upcoming Spring 2025 Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation (ESSC).
