Even if on the surface I&#8217;ve forgiven them, deep down, there&#8217;s already a divide. This isn&#8217;t the way to truly repair relationships, but I found the answer in the Bible on how to &#8220;forget&#8221;!<\/p><p>When I felt hurt or misunderstood by others, I thought of myself as pitiful. But then, I learned about someone &#8220;even more pitiful&#8221; &#8211; Joseph (Genesis 37-50). Joseph was sold to Ishmaelites by his brothers, who were jealous of their father&#8217;s love for him, leading him to end up in Egypt. At such a young age and full of trust in his brothers, he was betrayed by those closest to him. Later, as the governor of Egypt, when a great famine led his brothers to Egypt to buy grain, he didn&#8217;t seek revenge but instead forgave and treated them kindly. Joseph saw the bigger picture from God: had he not been sold into Egypt, he wouldn&#8217;t have become governor, and without him, his family might have perished in the famine.<\/p><p>I realize I can&#8217;t dwell on the pain in front of me; I need to see God&#8217;s arrangement or lessons beyond the suffering. If I can&#8217;t let go or forget others&#8217; faults or misunderstandings, I can&#8217;t face them properly, nor can I mend our relationships, missing out on God&#8217;s grace. We must learn to forgive, for &#8220;<b><i>The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
