Should that same technique apply to desire and crave to be loved more by Jesus? No. Because Jesus can’t love us any more than He already does. His love for us never changes. His love for us doesn’t depend on us ever.

In fact, it is when we are imperfect that we open our hearts to receive His perfection. Let’s take a look at how we should look at perfection in the Lord.

The World’s Definition of Perfection can cause us to become someone we are not. On the other hand, God welcomes us as we are.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

When we get so busy in doing the perfect job in anything including serving God, the satisfaction of our achievements may be enough for us to forget we need Him. The sinful woman who wept at Jesus’ feet, the woman who was about to be stoned and the woman who was bleeding all opened their hearts when life was not perfect. Such opening of the heart cannot be found in perfectionism. So, when we are so focused on being perfect, we can’t reach out to His hem.

Being Perfect requires us to DO while God asks us to BE.

“For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength. But you would not” Isaiah 30:15

The danger of perfectionism lies in the need to do things to such a level that we turn into human doings rather than remaining as a human being who finds rest in Him. We only need to draw near to Him and rest in Him to be saved from our doing.

Perfectionsm is about earning while God wants us to receive.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

Consider this. Accusers love to remind us of our sin shortcoming. God on the other hand has already acknowledged and planned for our shortcomings because all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. His blood washed away our shortcomings and sin so we have been set free and not submit to the yoke of slavery again. Thus, we need to lay down our yoke of perfectionism. When we empty out all of self, then we actually make room to receive what He intends for us to receive. Let go of earning, striving and instead find grace, acceptance and love.

Jesus is not waiting to welcome us with bells, whistles and ribbons of honor. He is waiting with scars that have already earned our place.

Please join us for the True Jesus Church’s bi-annual Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation. See details below.

18-21 April, 2024 Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation

Thursday, 18 April, 2024 6:50PM to 8:10PM
Friday and Saturday, 19-20 April, 2024 9:00AM to 8:10PM
Sunday, 21 April, 2024 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Complimentary lunch and dinner will be served.

Please find our church location below:

4N550 Church Road
Bensenville, IL 60106
Google Maps

For online streaming, please click here.

For regular service hours, please click here.

Email us at ilovejesus@tjc-chicago.org

Perfection earns placement in something or somewhere As a child, we get special treatment and favors by being perfect. Then as we grow up to be adults, that need to continue receiving attention and favors can cause us to be slaves to achieving, performing and earning. Being perfect at work also implies putting God on […]

["post-7838","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
