It is through humility that I can accept the assistance God provides through those around me, building a team where each member’s talents are fully utilized.

Moreover, to be an effective leader requires overcoming personal weaknesses. This demands reliance on the aid of Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit to break free from the things that corrupt me, allowing me to invest my energy in meaningful endeavors. Overcoming my flaws will not only endear me to the Lord Jesus who will then use me as a vessel fit for His purpose, but it also aligns with the narrative of Nehemiah as documented in the Bible. Nehemiah’s rise as a leader of the Israelites stemmed from his humility, his repentance before God, and his earnest quest for divine assistance. His resolute dedication to God, willingness to be led and transformed, thus garnered him an abundance of mercy and blessings from God.

We assume a leadership role of some sort at some point in our lives. How do you take on that role in a Godly way especially when things are in shambles? There is much to learn from Nehemiah. It was the year 445 B.C., a time of upheaval. Israel and Judah lay in ruin, their people led back in chains to a shattered Jerusalem by Zerubbabel and Ezra. Yet, Nehemiah, a child of the diaspora, bore within him a profound yearning for the Lord’s inheritance. The news of Jerusalem’s desolation brought tears, a lament for his homeland and more, for the glory and beauty of God’s dominion.

A Godly leader feels the pain of the people. Nehemiah uttered a prayer of repentance and redemption; with resolve, he sought God’s compassion, to be used as an instrument for His work, to gather those scattered across the nations, the exiles of Israel.

Nehemiah was a cupbearer in a foreign land, within the halls of the Persian palace, he wielded neither might nor resources to rebuild God’s kingdom. But he knew, with clarity, if God so willed, the wealth of the Persian king could be harnessed, that he might “find favor in the sight of this man.” Such was the courage and faith—a pure desire born from prayer and self-sanctification. Might you be in a position to find favor in God and others that helps you lead people with a resolution according to His will?

Indeed, the Lord esteemed the intent of Nehemiah’s heart directed toward Him. God granted him the full support of the Persian king. From the king, he obtained all resources and permissions necessary to reconstruct the walls of Jerusalem! So leaders, listen up. God sends resources including people our way to help even if these people are not what you expect.

And at last, he truly led the third return of Israel’s people, accomplishing the rebuilding of the walls, and by the hand of the Persian king, he was appointed governor over Judah; to aid God’s people in their restoration to a relationship with Him. When you to put on your faith, priority and trust in God, He will raise you to levels of servitude to shine for Him.

In Nehemiah’s story, we discern a message of profound spiritual significance: “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21. And so, it is in our lives—if we purify ourselves, if we commit our hearts to God; Jesus will aid and employ us; He will pave the path of growth for us.

We encourage you to learn more about spiritual growth for leaders and other roles through our website, subscription to our Facebook page , or come to our church chapel.

We warmly invite you to come to the True Jesus Church’s bi-annual Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation. See details below.

18-21 April, 2024 Evangelical Service and Spiritual Convocation

Thursday, 18 April, 2024 6:50PM to 8:10PM
Friday and Saturday, 19-20 April, 2024 9:00AM to 8:10PM
Sunday, 21 April, 2024 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Complimentary lunch and dinner will be served.

Please find our church location below:

4N550 Church Road
Bensenville, IL 60106
Google Maps

For online streaming, please click here.

For regular service hours, please click here.

Email us at ilovejesus@tjc-chicago.org

Find Spiritual Growth with Us (5)

/*!
