But a famine hit the land, and they moved away from the \u201chouse of bread\u201d to another place \u2013 Moab, an idol worshiping city. Elimelech (meaning \u201cmy God is king\u201d), the head of the house, died after they moved to Moab \u2013 they were derailed from God. Within ten years in Moab, the two sons died, too. Only Naomi (meaning \u201csweet\u201d), Elimelech&#8217;s wife, and the two daughters-in-law were left. And Naomi is now named Mara, which means bitter.<\/p><p>You may question why they would leave \u201cthe house of bread\u201d when there is a famine. The answer is, only they know. This is often the same to us. Why would we not believe in Jesus Christ? Why would we push away the love of God? However, the reason is not the most important thing. The most important thing is we return home to reconcile with our Lord Jesus Christ. Because this world is full of great famine; if we continue living in this world, we will die \u2013 this is not about our physical body\u2019s death, but the spiritual death.<\/p><p>Many of us suffer in this world from depression, loneliness, illness, etc. Why is that happening so commonly? It is because we moved away from the house of bread that our Lord Jesus Christ had prepared for us. Living a life without God can lead us into all types of addictions \u2013 drugs, pornography, gambling, etc, because we have no peace and joy in our heart and are trying so hard to fill the void within our heart with things in this world. But as described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/tjc-chicago.org\/2025-spring-essc-physicalwellness-1\/\">wave 1 article<\/a>, those things can only put a band-aid on the wounds to our body (physical needs) and soul (emotional needs). Only our Lord Jesus Christ can fill the void in our spirit, and through that, our body and soul will be healed.<\/p><p><em>\u201cThen she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the LORD had visited His people by giving them bread. Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.\u201d (Ruth 1:6-7)<\/em><\/p><p>After Naomi lost everything, she finally <strong>arose<\/strong> and <strong>went out<\/strong>. It took her to lose everything to think of and take action to move back to the \u201chouse of bread\u201d. She arose because she heard that the Lord visited and gave bread to the people in Bethlehem. But in fact, God has been with the city of Bethlehem all the time, and that\u2019s why it\u2019s called Bethlehem the house of bread.<\/p><p>For us to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, not only do we need to <strong>arise<\/strong> (make a determination to follow Him), but also <strong>go out<\/strong> from where we were (put in action and quit our bad habits). Return to Bethlehem, the house of bread, because Jesus Christ is waiting for every single sorrowful lost soul to return to His house.<\/p><p>We encourage you to learn more about our <a href=\"https:\/\/tjc-chicago.org\/about\/basic-beliefs\/\">Lord Jesus Christ<\/a> and come join us so that you will not be alone on your journey of returning home.
